Exploring folklore and festivity, artist Victoria Ball imagines an woodland where the creatures have claimed the holiday season as their own. A badger wraps himself in a striped scarf; a squirrel reaches for a branch; a barn owl sweeps overhead as gold stars dot a midnight-blue sky. Red ribbons curl through pine boughs hung with painted ornaments, and every corner of the image rewards a second look- a toadstool here, a sprig of holly there, the whole scene glittering with foil accents that catch and shift in the light.
This 500-piece foil puzzle assembles into a 20x20 inch square of pure seasonal atmosphere. It's a slow satisfying project for the weeks of winter when the world outside is cold and it's warmest inside.
