Syngonium Red Arrow

Hey Plant Friends!

This week we are talking about Syngonium ‘Red Arrow’, commonly known as arrowhead vine. This plant belongs to the Araceae or Aroid plant family and is native to tropical rainforests in Southern Mexico, the West Indies, and Central and South America. This not so common plant is known for its pointed, arrow-shaped leaves and dark burgundy foliage.

Let’s talk about care. Syngonium thrive in bright, indirect light. Direct sun may cause leaf burn. Bright, morning sun, usually an Eastern exposure, is the ideal placement for this plant. When it’s time to repot, we recommend Sol Soils Houseplant Mix. This soil will provides great drainage and aeration. Check your plant weekly for water needs allowing the top 2-3 inches of soil to dry between watering. During the winter months, hydration will be needed less frequently. Syngonium will appreciate added humidity. This can be accomplished with a handy dandy Continuous Spray Bottle. As always, keep an eye out for common pests such as mealy bugs and spider mites. Check for pests weekly when watering and make sure to have a bottle of Bonide’s Insecticidal Soap on hand for easy treatment.

Syngonium ‘Red Arrow’ is available at Tonkadale in 4” pots. If you have additional questions feel free to reach out to us by phone, Instagram, or email us at hello@tonkadale.com.

Happy Planting!
