Spruce Up your Wreaths, Garlands, and Swags
A simple faux wreath, garland, or swag can bring life to your home for months, without the worry of losing needles. The secret to creating truly stunning holiday pieces is that it's all in the details! Silky ribbons, gleaming fairy lights, and pops of faux berries are just a few ways to add a little more personality to your holiday greenery.
Wreaths
Our favorite strategy for sprucing up your wreath is clumping!
1) Pick out 2-3 pieces that you'd like to add into your wreath. These can be elements like other faux greens, glittery spikes, or berry sprays.
2) Pull your elements together in clumps, aka a little bouquet or pom-pom shape. Fluff the pieces out as you're doing so for the fullest effect. Use zip ties to secure them together, and to help with easy removal in the future!
3) Map out how many clumps your wreath will need to feel full. This will probably be 3-5, depending on the size of your clumps and wreath. Be sure to leave space for a bow on the top or bottom if you'd like to add one later on!
4) Following the direction of the greens within your wreath, start tucking your clumps into the wreath. Attach your clumps to the wreath frame with zip ties, and don't forget to cut off their tails! Hide the base of your clump under pieces of the wreath so that your zip ties aren't visible.
5) If you'd like to add a bow, now's the time! Check out our videos on how to create simple coquette bows, or double-layered bows if you'd like to make one yourself! We also have an entire WALL of pre-made bows in-store, and some of our favorites are available online.
6) Add your final embellishments! A string of bells, garland of baubles, or pinecones. These are great to fill in those pesky little blank areas that your clumps didn't cover.
7) Give your wreath a good shake to make sure everything is nice and secure, hang it up, and step back to enjoy all of your hard work!

Garlands
With garland, your opportunities are endless! They can be used as a centerpiece in your tablescape, as well as draped over a mirror, doorway, or mantlepiece. Here are a few ideas to really make your garland stand out:
- Wrap a strand or two of ribbon throughout the length of the garland. Better yet, tie bows into the ribbon as you go!
- Intertwine a garland of beads, baubles, or glitzy pinecones to add some dimension.
- Add twigs, birch poles, dried oranges, and grapevine or willow twig strands to add a more woodsy and whimsical touch.
- Place large round ornaments or sugar pinecones to break up empty spaces of greenery.
- Add fairy lights for a soft twinkle! We carry two that operate with battery packs, one with star-shaped lights and one with regular bulbs. There's even a 10-foot option that needs to be plugged in.

Swags
A simple formula for swag decorating includes four elements: greens, berries, pinecones, and ribbon. Aaand zip-ties, of course.. so that makes five!
1) Start with your greenery as your backdrop. This will be your main piece that you build around. Lay it out flat on your work surface, and place the additional elements on top as you work.
2) Add your berries. Choose a 6-8" pick, or pull individual branches from a larger spray.
3) Beef it up with some big sugar pinecones, or mid-sized jeffrey cones. If you're not a fan of the more natural look, you could add bells or large, round ornaments instead.
4) Zip-tie all of your pieces together into one bundle, and wrap the top with floral wire or twine for extra security. As you are wrapping, you can make a small loop on the backside of your swag to hang.
5) Tie a bow around the top of your swag, to add the finishing touch and help disguise the zip-ties and wire!
With these simple yet eye-catching embellishments, you can turn plain green décor into showstopping holiday accents that are custom-to-you and full of cheer. With a little bit of care, they'll last you for years to come!
