Scindapsus 'Jade Satin'

Hey Plant Friends!

This week we are going to be talking about Scindapsus pictus ‘Jade Satin’. This plant belongs to the Araceae plant family and is native to Southeast Asia. If you love its close cousin Pothos for its easy care, then this is a great option for your collection. Scindapsus ‘Jade Satin’ is a newer cultivar known for its rich, dark-green foliage and thick heart shaped leaves.

Let’s talk about care. Scindapsus thrives in bright, indirect light. Brighter light will promote compact growth rather than stretching. Avoid direct sun as this can cause leaf scorch. Jade Satin can be sensitive to overwatering. Allow the soil to dry 2-3 inches down before giving it a good soak. Cut back on watering during the winter months. When it’s time to repo, we recommend using Sol Soils Houseplant Chunky Mix which is great for Aroids. Scindapsus trail in a hanging pot and are super easy to propagate. Taking cuttings and sticking them with a bit of rooting hormone with your existing plant will help you achieve a fuller look. them to the top of your plant into the soil can help achieve a fuller look. Keep an eye out for common pests such as mealy bugs and spider mites. Check for pests weekly when watering and keep a bottle of Bonide’s Insecticidal Soap on hand for easy treatment.

We currently carry Scindapsus pictus ‘Jade Satin’ in 6” pots in the greenhouse. If you have any further questions feel free to reach out to us by phone, Instagram, or email us at hello@tonkadale.com.
