Receiving Coordinator

Position Summary

The Receiving Coordinator is responsible for performing assigned duties in support of departmental and organizational objectives. This position is classified as non-exempt and is eligible for overtime in accordance with applicable wage and hour laws. This position offers a steady, organized force behind how products arrive, live, and shine at Tonkadale ensuring hard goods are received with care, inventory is accurate, and a fun, fresh, store experience aligned with Tonkadales’ values.

Pay Range: $18.00 - $24.00 per hour

  • This pay range represents the expected starting rate for this position.
  • Actual pay will be based on factors such as skills, experience, and internal equity.

Schedule

  • Full-Time
  • Typical hours are 40 hours per week with one weekend day per week and one closing shift per week.
  • Overtime as required during peak selling seasons which are early spring and late fall (May and November).

About the Role

  • We are seeking a reliable and motivated Receiving Coordinator to join our team. This hourly, non-exempt role supports our daily operations by performing a variety of receiving duties while maintaining our safety, quality, and inventory standards.

Key Responsibilites

  • Receive, organize, and maintain inventory in accordance with established procedures.
  • Process incoming shipments using a first-in, first-received (FIFO) approach.
  • Verify shipments by matching products to corresponding purchase orders.
  • Inspect deliveries for damage, count items, and document discrepancies.
  • Review product pricing upon receipt and identify variances.
  • Price merchandise using approved methods or prepare items for pricing support.
  • Pull and stage products for photography and marketing needs.
  • Organize seasonal merchandise and backstock in designated storage areas, including the barn and loft.
  • Prepare and submit damage claims to vendors and coordinate removal or clearance of damaged merchandise.
  • Apply barcodes at the individual item level as required.
  • Print and apply tags for individual products or in batches for point-of-sale (POS) systems.
  • Assist with annual physical inventory counts and related activities.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned to support business operations.

Required Qualifications

  • Ability to perform essential job functions with or without reasonable accommodation.
  • Basic communication skills and problem-solving.
  • Ability to meet attendance and scheduling requirements year round.

Preferrd Qualifications

  • Prior experience in a similar role or transferable skills.
  • Familiarity with workplace safety practices, retail and /garden center environment.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to lift 10-20 lbs and perform repetitive tasks.
  • Ability to work in a greenhouse environment and varying indoor and outdoor weather.
  • Ability to stand/walk for extended periods during your shift regularly lifting, bending, reaching, walking, pushing and pulling carts, moving pallets with a pallet jack, breaking down cardboard and handling materials.
