Lemon Cypress
Hey Plant Friends!
This week we are talking about Cupressus macrocarpa 'Goldcrest', more commonly known as Lemon Cypress. This plant is native to Monterey Bay on the coast of central California and belongs to the Cupressaceae plant family which consists of conifers such as cypress, redwoods, and junipers . Lemon Cypress is available in the greenhouse seasonally and is a great addition to your holiday home simply for its lemon scent and bright green foliage. Lemon Cypress are grown in many shapes and sizes and are perfect for decking your planty halls.
Let’s talk about care. A few considerations key considereations will keep this plant happy and healthy. First is water. NEVER let these babies dry out! Check every few days for watering and keep them evenly moist. Second is sunlight. Place in a bright, sunny spot in your home. Bright light indoors is required to maintain their lime green color. Plant in a rich potting soil such as Tonka Terra Potting Soil, our house blend potting soil, or Espoma's All Purpose Potting Mix. Trim your Lemon Cypress to maintain a tidy appearance.
