A native herbaceous perennial with two downy, dark green leaves and cup-shaped, purple-brown flowers. The roots produce a similar scent to culinary ginger (Zingiber officinale) but are typically not used for culinary purposes. Excellent in woodland gardens or native plant gardens as a groundcover.
