When can I plant for spring?
We suggest waiting to plant annuals once temperatures have reached above 50 and 60 degrees, this way the soil is thawed and your plants have room to grow. However, there are early blooming annuals that can be outside prior, like pansies and violas. A popular time in Minnesota to plant annuals is around the end of May.

How many spruce tops and rice hulls do I need for a 12" pot?
We suggest 1-2 bundles of regular size spruce tops, depending on how full you would like your pot. One bag of rice hulls should do the trick for one pot, and possibly leave you left overs for another.
How do I care for a spruce top pot?
A spruce top pot will need to be watered through until water flows from the drain in the bottom of the pot. Leave the pot outside and let it freeze, and water it through again if the pot thaws. Spray the greens evenly with Wilt Stop to keep the greens from wilting. Click here for tips on building spruce top pots.
What are rice hulls?
Rice hulls are the hard protecting covering on grains of rice. Tonkadale uses rice hulls to fill our spruce top pots because they retain water and prolong the life of the spruce tops and greens.
Can I bring my own pots for custom design?
