We made so many new friends on Instagram this year! Here is a look at who we are following and you should too!

@urbanjunglemsp

James Dale - a Minneapolis based plant dad with a passion for Hoyas.

If you haven't met James, you should. His aura is magnetic. He exudes all things positively planty and is just so fun to hang with in the greenhouse. He is currently living his best life raising 40 different hoya specimens for a total of 140 houseplants in his 400 sq. ft. urban jungle. He talks about his hoya plants in terms of their anatomy - peduncles, inflorescence, nodes and is spreading the good word on how easy they are to care for. You can almost smell them blooming in real time as you swipe through his Instagram stories. Post your hoya pics using #hotforhoya to be featured on his page. Check out his YouTube Channel here.

Too modest to admit, James is one of the ring leaders of the Minneapolis plant scene where all are welcome. He and Jessica of @florafloraflora are planning a Houseplant Hoppy Hour on Saturday, January 25 from 1 pm - 3 pm at Bauhaus Brew Labs in NE Minneapolis. Information available on the facebook event page #houseplanthoppyhour

@foxhomesmn

Heather and Brad Fox - hosts of HGTV's Stay or Sell and owners of Fox Homes, a Minneapolis based real estate company specializing in design, home builds, and remodels.

Fox Homes contacted us to stage and style plants for Season 1, Episode 9 of the HGTV show Stay or Sell which aired last October. One truck load later and we had plants featured in every room - including the front porch and back patio. Plant life is the best life, amirite?! Our favorite room was the living space featuring this gorgeous rough-cut mantle. Plants add the final layer of dimension and movement to any room. Just make sure you find the right plant for the right place. We can help.

And guess what? Heather and Brad are opening up a retail location on 44th and France in Edina this year.

@bothrops1

Paul B. - professor by day, living the good life by night. Boots, watches, cocktails, and PLANTS.

Paul came to us through a mutual friend and always finds a place in his home to feature Tonkadale plants. In fact, he was gifted his cactus collection from said mutual friend. Paul doesn't know it yet, but I am planning on accompanying him on his next trip to Havanna, (ooh-na-na) Cuba. Here's to chatting all things biological (he's a biology professor so its normal) and getting to know you and your ways on the other side of the gram in 2020!

@jkath_designbuild

Jesse and Katie Kath - owners of JKath, a design/build firm located in St. Paul.

We had to travel to the other side of the river for this one. St. Paul people love their plants too.

Among other things, Katie and her husband Jesse recently finished renovation of a stunning 1940's Tudor in the Macalester-Groveland neighborhood. The Silver Satin pothos we selected to sit atop it's custom made radiator cover speaks to the simplicity and craftsmanship of their design aesthetic. Like they say, "Live in the details". See views of the whole house here. JKath, we look forward to partnering with you in the future. It is an honor to have our plants featured in your homes.

@plantwithjaz

Jazmin - A Minneapolis plant lady and lover of peperomia.

Currently curating over 200 plant specimens and dozens of individual peperomia varieties, Jazmin is the queen of plant shelfies. We were lucky to connect with Jazmin at our latest event - our first ever plant swap! She was the hostest with the mostest as she engaged 75 enthusiastic plant parents in peaceful plant exchange. Some went home with coveted varieties like hard to find Cebu blue pothos and the ever elusive Peperomia prostrata. Stick your cuttings now 'cause we're having another plant swap this March. Details to follow.

When you are lucky enough to view Jazmin's plants up close, you will notice her clever labeling system that is exclusive to her and her alone. Can't touch that label maker, it's taken!

@fitfoodiefinds

Lee and her St. Louis Park based team create digital content centered around healthy eating, positive body image, everyday life, a bunch of laughs, and of course PLANTS.

It all started with the office plant wall for low light. Challenge accepted. Check out the all white pot palette with a splash of terra cotta. So fresh and so clean.

For the record, the FFF founder stated that one of her goals for 2020 is to collect 100 plants. Can she do it? Yes she can! With a little help from her friends at Tonkadale. Oh wise one, teach us your "butter butt" ways and we'll teach you ours.

As we adjourn, don't fret if you weren't featured. We love you all just the same. Whether you have 100 followers or 100K followers, you are all plant partners in our eyes. Cheers to exciting new plant content, new partnerships, and our talented local Instagram community.

See you at Tonkadale!
