Hey! I just wanted to invite you all to our fall seminars and events. We have a great line-up of seminars, events and workshops all produced in house. Tonkadale’s seminars and events are a great opportunity to learn from the experts and get creative with us!
We always kick things off the weekend after Labor Day with Customer Appreciation Day. This is a highly anticipated event as all perennials will be 50% off. Play nice, you guys — there are enough hostas and hydrangeas for everyone. It’s plug and play with these babies!! No returns on sale plants. New this year, we are pulling out select fairy garden accessories at 50% off too! On Saturday from 11 a.m. – 2 p.m., we will serve you free hot dogs and root beer floats! This is our opportunity for us to say thank you for another successful season. We love you!
Throughout the month of September, you are welcome to stop in on Sundays for Coloring in the Garden. We have all the coloring supplies and really cool coloring pages so you can sit and relax and color! Great for adults and kids of all ages.
On Saturday, Sept. 17 we will hold our first workshop of the season: the Fall Container Gardening Workshop. You guys, this is great opportunity to get your fall containers done and done. We are here to help you put together the best-looking fall containers on the block using cold-tolerant annuals, including mums, kale, grasses and more. But that’s not it. There is so much more to add – twigs, pods, pumpkins and gourds. With all the glorious color and texture, fall is really the best season of all (just don’t tell spring)!
Fall Decorating is on deck for Saturday, Sept. 24th. Get here early to get a good seat. In this seminar, we showcase all kinds of fun, quick and easy fall decorating ideas for in and around the home. If it takes us 2 minutes to show, it will take you 10 minutes at home – and that is worth the price of admission – free!
If you want to expand your design knowledge and put what you learned at our Fall Decorating Seminar to practice, check out the Fall Wreath Workshop on Oct. 1, the Birch Log Workshop on Oct. 8, and our world-famous-all-over-Minnetonka Pine Cone Chandelier Workshop on Oct. 15. In all three of these workshops, you will take home a completed project you can be proud of! We promise, it will be something your neighbors don’t have. Unless, of course, you are my neighbor! All of these start at 10 a.m.[one_third][/one_third] [one_third][/one_third] [one_third_last][/one_third_last]
We’re trying out something new this fall. It’s our Fall in the Garden Seminar Series. These are shortened seminars on easily approachable topics that are specific to this time of year, held each date listed 2-2:30 pm.
- Spring Flowering Bulbs on Sept. 17.
- Fall Tree and Shrub Care with special attention to Buckthorn Removal on Sept. 24.
- Putting the Perennial Garden to Bed on Oct. 1.
- Planning Ahead for Pollinators on Oct. 8. These sessions will be informal and we welcome questions!
Don’t forget to see us for Fairy Garden Fridays on Oct. 14 and 21. These are no-school days for either Hopkins or Minnetonka or both! This is a KID-centric workshop where you can create a fairy garden in our workshop space and leave the mess here. These run from 10 a.m. to noon.
The final fall sessions are centered around the quintessential fall item – pumpkins!
Saturday, Oct. 22 is our first-ever Pumpkin Centerpiece Workshop. During this workshop, which starts at 10 a.m., you can complete one of two projects. 1. Hollow out a pumpkin or gourd and plant it with fall items or even succulents. 2. The other option will be to arrange pumpkins/gourds/plants, probably really cool succulents in a tray. Seriously looking forward to this one.
Saturday, Oct. 29 is our Pumpkin Carving Workshop which we have done for years at Tonkadale. Some of the first participants are probably heading off to college this fall.
Drop in between 10 a.m. and 4 p.m. to carve a pumpkin and leave the mess here. Seriously, leave the mess here. All you have to do is pay for the pumpkin and have fun with your family! We will have stencils, carving tools and accessories available for you to use. Also notable, there are tons of fall family photo opportunities around Tonkadale. We’ll have some set up specifically for you! Pumpkin Carving – check, fall family photo – check!
See you at Tonkadale!
