What can Tonkadale's Community achieve?

Tonkadale Supports Our
Local Community

Tonkadale has chosen to support the local ICA Foodshelf through a series of annual events. We believe in this cause because the effects can be felt directly in our community. Tonkadale is also a drop sight for ICA and we always welcome non-perishable food donations. During the summer, Tonkadale also accepts donations of fresh produce. Learn more about our Grow and Give program. Volunteers pick up donations as needed and deliver to the foodshelf in a timely manner.

The following are events we sponsor in hopes of helping
our community to help ease hunger.

GROW & GIVE 2012 ...

ICA and Tonkadale Greenhouse
Are Excited To Partner This Spring In The
Fourth Annual “Grow and Give” Produce Fundraiser!

Growing your own food is an easy and inexpensive way to provide nutritious, fresh, local food to those in need. First time vegetable gardeners have an opportunity to try something new and experience the great rewards of growing your own food and giving back to the community.

Tonkadale supplies the vegetables.

You raise the veggies in your own backyard or garden plot.

We ALL give back to the community by supplying those in need with fresh produce.

Visit www.icafoodshlef.org for more information about what ICA
is doing in the community.

The plan is easy:

  1. Sign-up: eMail: jessie@tonkadale.com
  2. Pick-up: May 17th or 18th Anytime.
  3. Plant: Pepper, Tomato, Squash Plants and Beet, Carrot and Pea Seeds.
  4. Donate: Drop-off Fresh Produce at Tonkadale or the ICA Food Shelf.

Over the last few years, we have collected thousands of pounds
of fresh produce, all grown by eager volunteers like you!

Tonkadale at the Arboretum …
Windows On Winter Display

Each winter, Tonkadale donates a “Winter Scene” which includes fresh evergreens, cones, berries and expert design talent to the Minnesota Landscape Arboretums’ “Windows on Winter” display. Stop by the Arboretum and see Tonkadale’s creation in front of the Oswald Visitor Center.

Tonkadale at the Minnetonka Arts Center …
The 15’ Tree
at the
Minnetonka Arts Center

Each holiday season, Tonkadale donates and decorates a 15’ Fraser Fir Christmas tree to the Minnetonka Arts Center as part of their annual art show.

We are proud to showcase our beautiful tree for so many talented artists and community members!

We also donate and design other Holiday decorations that adorn the Arts Center:

About ICA (Intercongregation Communities Association)

ICA has been in existence for 38 years. It started as two couples became aware of the mounting needs in our area. They started distributing food and clothing from a house in downtown Hopkins. A group of congregations saw their work and met to organize the assistance effort. Over the years, additional congregations have joined as partners. ICA now has 36 partner congregations, 100 business partners, and is also supported by civic organizations, schools and fraternal organizations.

ICA Services

ICA clients are our neighbors who find themselves struggling to make ends meet. Most of ICA’s clients work, but do not make enough money to cover the basic needs of their families. Some are able to achieve financial stability quickly; others require ongoing assistance and support. ICA supports families through a food distribution program as well as an emergency financial assistance program.

Learn more about ICA and explore volunteer opportunities at www.icafoodshelf.org

Thank you for your support!
