It’s a little bittersweet to say goodbye to summer, but Fall brings its own rewards with cooler weather (perfect for gardening and bonfires!), football season, the start of school, The Great Minnesota Get-Together, pumpkin spice everything, and more! Of course, the return of Tonkadale Events is right at the top of the list of the best things about Fall. Grab your calendar, here’s the line-up!

Customer Appreciation Days
September 7 & 8
To kick off our Fall Events we want to thank YOU, our amazing customers! Join us for complimentary hot dogs, root beer floats, and more on Saturday, September 7, 11am-2pm. All day Saturday 7 and Sunday 8 enjoy 50% off perennials, trees, and shrubs, and 20% off indoor plants, plant housing (containers), and garden supplies.
Excludes found items. All perennial sales are final. Sale prices do not apply to previously purchased merchandise.

Yoga in the Greenhouse
Select Saturdays at 9:30am
$15 per person at the door
Everyone takes home a complimentary plant friend after class!
As the weather cools, there is no better place than the greenhouse to take part in yoga that will replenish your mind and body. Instructor Sheila Mae is once again bringing her expertise to Tonkadale. All levels welcome. Bring your own mat. Choose your favorite theme or join us for all three.

September 14 – Yoga for Gratitude: honor the end of summer and create space in our hearts in gratitude for all seasons.

October 19 – Joyful Heart Yoga: the healing qualities in playfulness and FUN will open your heart to let more joy into your life.

December 14 – Invigorating Yoga: get energized during the shortest, darkest days of winter.

Fall Container Workshop
Saturday, September 14, 1pm
$15.00 per person plus materials
Registration required
Set your fall door step up for success as we create fall planters using frost tolerant plants and ultra cool twigs, pods, stems, and objects at the Fall Container Workshop. Design staff will be available to assist as you create and construct your item in our workshop space.

Houseplant Journal Workshops with Darryl Cheng
Saturday, September 21
Plant Parenting and Re-potting 10am

Free, space is limited, registration required

Join us in welcoming and learning from Darryl Cheng of @houseplantjournal Instagram fame! Besides an amazing resource for information, Darryl authored The New Plant Parent book and will be selling and signing copies!
In the 10:00am session, develop your green thumb, learn how to care for your houseplant family, and view a re-potting demo. Followed by Q&A and ‘The New Plant Parent’ book signing.  
In the 2pm session, the same information that was covered in the morning session will be presented along with propagation demonstrations, tips and tricks for success. Followed by Q&A and ‘The New Plant Parent’ book signing.

Instagram Meet-Up
Saturday, September 28, 10am-1pm
Free, no registration required
Join us for a morning of photography fun in the greenhouse. Cameras and camera phones welcome, no need to be a professional, just bring your passion for plant inspired spaces, take photos, and post. Free mini-plant with social media posting proof! Remember to tag us, we love to see the greenhouse through your eyes!

Houseplant Runway Show
Saturday, October 5, 1pm
Free, no registration required
This favorite event is back and will be bigger and better than ever! Take a seat along side the turf runway and learn how to pick the right plants for the right place. Plant styling, care instructions, tips & tricks included.

Biscuits and Blooms: Underdog Rescue Fundraiser
Saturday, October 12, 12pm-4pm
Free, no registration required

Bring on the puppers and doggos! Mark your calendars and get ready for fun at the annual Underdog Rescue fundraiser! It is time to celebrate all of the adopted dogs and support dogs still in foster care, as well as future rescues. We are excited to welcome back Bark and the Bite food truck, dishing up their tasty barbecue, and The Herbivorous Butcher Food Truck with their amazing vegan food. Back Channel Brewing will be serving craft beers too! We’ll also have a silent auction, photobooth, wine wall, vendor booths, Underdog merchandise, and a donation wall for special pups in our rescue. Adoptable dogs will be there too, you might meet your new best friend!

This event is free and open to the entire family, even the friendly, outgoing furry four-legged members.

Watercolor Home Portrait Class with Lindsay McCall
Saturday, October 19, 1-4:30pm
Very limited space
$75 per person
Registration required

Talented local artist Lindsay McCall will guide you through a beginners course in which you’ll create a watercolor painting of a place you call home, whether now, in the past, or the beloved cabin. Photos of the house to be painted must be sent to Lindsay via email 2 weeks prior to the class time. She will sketch each home and bring the 8×10” portraits to class. Participants will then use pen and paint to complete their beautiful, one-of-a-kind paintings.  

Children’s Activities
Third Thursdays are back!
Registration required

Join us in the greenhouse for free plant inspired stories, music, and movement. Optional: choose to stay for a planting project, $10 per child/project.

Plant Friends and their benefits. Plant a snake plant or spider plant, name your plant and learn how to properly care for it in your home!

October 17
Guest Librarian Cara from the Minnetonka Library. Harvest the Power of Herbs. Plant an herb to take home and use in the kitchen.

December 19
Guest Librarian Molly from the Wayzata Library. The gift of plants. Plant an succulent to give as a gift to someone special.

Pumpkin Carving
Saturday October 26
This annual favorite is a must-do. Purchase your pumpkin at Tonkadale, carve it up and leave the mess here. 10:00 am to 4:00 pm, cost of pumpkin only. Costumes encouraged for fall photo opportunities. No registration required, just show up. Pre-washed and shined pumpkins, stencils, decorations and treats at the ready!

Brewery and Winery Workshops

It’s good to get out of the greenhouse now and then, so we’re taking the fun to our other happy places! Join us for a fun, off-site event. Registration covers all project materials and one free beverage of choice.

Macrame the Day Away
Wednesday, October 9, 6:30pm
Unmapped Brewing
Registration required

Create a macrame plant hanger with Tonkadale staff at Unmapped Brewing. $45.00 per person, includes all materials and one free beer or non-alcoholic craft beverage. Plant and pot sold separately. Enjoy 10% off your next pot and plant purchase at Tonkadale.

Sips and Succulents
$50.00 per person – includes all materials and one free beverage of choice.  
Create a succulent container to take home and enjoy.
