Tonkadale has been holding events since the beginning of time. Our events are fun, fresh and always approachable. Now more than ever, our ridiculous passion is focused on YOU as we invite you to share our space. After all, Tonkadale is your greenhouse home.
We all have our places. Our first place is most likely home. Our second, work. Our third, well that depends. Tonkadale wants to be your third place, if only for a moment in time. So join us, bring a friend or two – we may even come to you!
It’s a Party
We are throwing a party to celebrate you! Customer Appreciation Weekend is Saturday and Sunday, September 8th and 9th. You heard it here first – 50% off all perennials, 20% off all garden supplies, indoor plants and plant housing (that’s containers and such). We’re boiling sweet corn and serving free hot dogs and root beer floats on Saturday while they last. Stop in before or after the soccer game for a bite to eat and a plant to plant!
Hey Plant People
Plants in our dwellings improve air quality, increase focus and creativity and reduce stress. Take advantage of the benefits of plants in our plant-centric Hey Plant People! workshops on August 25 or September 22. You have the opportunity to choose your price point, choose your container and choose your plants. Focus will be on succulents, cactus and tillandsia (air plants) projects. One-on-one customer service and plant styling available while you shop. Set your college student up for success as you send them off to their dorm room or apartment or bring a group of friends, family or co-workers. No need to register, just show up between 10 am and 2 pm on these designated days!
If you can’t come to us, we can meet you at the brewery. This September, you have two opportunities to sip beer or other craft beverages while planting succulents at one or two of our favorite local breweries:
$45.00 all in – includes all materials, choice of container and one free beer or craft N/A beverage. Plus 10% off your next succulent purchase at Tonkadale.
For the Makers
Or really anyone who loves to work with their hands. If you are afraid of working with your hands, we will hold it.
Set your fall door step up for success as we create fall planters using frost tolerant plants and ultra cool twigs, pods, stems and objects at the Fall Container Workshop on Saturday, September 15. Design staff will be available to assist as you create and construct your item in our workshop space.
Harvest the Power of Plants on Saturday, October 6th has a great line-up of hands-on workshops:
Join Jodi McKee, owner of Jewelweed, a health and wellness boutique located in Wayzata, as she demonstrates the benefits of fire cider at the Fire Cider Workshop. Made with garlic, pepper and horseradish and take on the onset of a cold, this remedy can stave off viruses and enhance immunity. Instruction and materials to create your very own batch of fire cider.
Learn the basics of zymurgy with Ky from GYST Fermentation Bar, including what lactic-acid fermentation actually is, the sustainability of it and why fermented vegetables have amazing health benefits at the Fermentation Workshop. Participants will make their own sauerkraut to take home!
You need sauerkraut and fire cider in yo’ life.
Finally, create a macrame plant hanger for your jungle like plant spaces- again at two opportunities at our two favorite breweries:
$45.00 all in – includes all materials. Plant and pot sold separately. Plus 10% off your next pot and plant purchase at Tonkadale.
